info@slsvs.lkThe key bi-annual academic event of the Sri Lankan Society for Vascular Surgery (SLSVS) – SLSVS_23, will be held on the 12th and 13th May 2023 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Our theme this year will be “Regaining Blood Flow – a SAARC Destination”.
It will be a rich scientific event bringing together experts from all fields of vascular surgery from SAARC and European nations. Thus, we will be having an expert faculty from both Sri Lanka and abroad participating in this meeting with a view to discussing regional issues and applicability of global guidelines in our local settings. This conference will also offer a platform to establish relationships between member societies of the SAARC region, and I hope this could be a strong initiative to create a sustainable regional network in the field of vascular and endovascular surgery.
SLSVS_23 features a pre-congress workshop, an oration, literary and historical presentations to enrich the sessions together with a line-up of social events. However, the final beneficiaries of the deliberations at the SLSVS_23 are patients with vascular diseases in Sri Lanka and our SAARC region.
We the Sri Lankan Society for Vascular Surgery look forward to seeing you at the SLSVS_23.
With warm regards,
Prof. Rezni Cassim
President
Sri Lankan Society for Vascular Surgery
Dear colleagues
The Annual Academic Congress of the Sri Lanka Society of Vascular Surgery – aka SLSVS_23 is happening.
After 3 years of hardship following COVID-19 pandemic and economic unrest in Sri Lanka, we have finally re-emerged stronger than ever. As the pioneer academic body of the country’s vascular surgeons its finally time to showcase the evolution of the speciality of vascular surgery in Sri Lanka.
Organizing a meeting is no easy task and its always challenging. This meeting is a landmark for many reasons. On one aspect it’s a meeting to honor and tribute the forefathers of vascular surgery in Sri Lank and on the other, its a meeting of regional collaboration.
Reconstruction and resurrection of blood vessels have always been a fine art, that eluded mankind for years. Like much of medicine, its evolving in leaps and bounds and technology is playing a huge role in its development. SLSVS_23 will focus on education and evidence and includes the practical as well as hottest topics in arterial and venous disease.
The scientific program is rich and exciting. We are proud and honoured that over 20 foreign speakers are joining us in person. Fellow vascular surgeons of Sri Lanka, are the strength and driving force behind SLSVS_23 and the team is evolving with more and more new, young blood coming into the force.
As a region it is clear that we have our own intricacies and it’s an opportunity to look beyond simply our institution, or country and think regional. To take upon issues that are common to all of us and to share resources in finding common solutions. Knowledge and resources can be shared; research in collaboration is the way forward and quite fittingly the theme of SLSVS_23 - “Regaining blood flow – A SAARC perspective” resonates with it.
As the Congress Chair we look forward to your participation. Come! Be a part of SLSVS_23.
